        Wardrobe Tips

  1. For storage, dry-clean the garments first to keep away the moths. This removes the body oils they are attracted to. Storing a garment without cleaning it first is an invitation for permanent damage by dirt and insects.
  2. All types of wool can be folded and stored with mothballs. Insure that the storage bags, used are kept in a dry place. Never store any garments in the protective plastic bags.
  3. Storing Garments on Hangers- Select the appropriate hanger based on the style and weight of the garment, Padded, Extra-wide and Suit Hangers are for jackets, suits and tailored garments. Traditional hangers with an enlarged, rounded, horizontal bar are appropriate for folded pants.

       Hanging Suit Jackets

  1. Before hanging suit jackets into wardrobe, it will be advisable to use the clothes brush to brush them frequently after wearing. This helps to remove dirt and lint buildup on the suit. It also helps to rejuvenate the wool.
  2. It is very important to have suit jackets hung on good coat hangers that have broad, rounded shoulder supports. No matter how long a suit is left on it, the support from the hangers will keep suit jackets in shape.
  3. Avoid metal wire hangers for suits. From the suit jackets remove any items in the pockets. This will prevent the suit from strains and keep the jacket's pocket its original shape.
  4. Keep suit in a garment bag that can "breathe" and not one that is fully enclosed. If you are not going to use a garment bag, then it would be good to just cover the shoulder portion to avoid dust gathering.
  5. Air suits for about 24 hours before putting into the wardrobe. It will help dry up any moisture trapped in the suit before storing. It also helps to rejuvenate wool since it is a natural fiber. Keep your suit jacket in a special garment suitcase supplied by your tailor.
  6. Store garments on hangers in a well-ventilated closet. Make sure the storage area is clean.
  7. Enough space should be given between hanging the garments to allow the garment to hang naturally. Allowing space gives airflow and prevents wrinkles. Clean and air out the storage area at least once a year.
